Sawyer and Savannah met doing something they both love, being in nature by working at Blue Mound State Park. On the first day of orientation, at first glance there was a spark there, a connection they both could tell was special. She noticed a handsome young man with a missing tooth who had a winning smile nonetheless. He saw a gorgeous young woman with a resting scowl (that would soon be fixed with glasses) who was vastly out of his league.
They didn’t have a chance to talk much, to their mutual disappointment, but one day fate played matchmaker in a way they didn’t expect. Their boss double scheduled them to work the front desk. Their inevitable first date was shortly after. They spent it at the Memorial Union, where they walked through the Allen Centennial Gardens and shared ice cream under a double rainbow. The rest of the summer was one of the best of their lives, because they had discovered something they hadn’t known they had been missing: each other.
Then came complications, as there always are in love and life. Savannah moved to Japan, and then DC, but that didn’t stop Sawyer from sending her love every day. They cherished each moment they could spend with each other, and through the fire and flames and the tribulations of long distance relationships they moved in with each other as soon as they were able. No one place was able to contain them for long. They bounced around the state, adopted a snuggler of a barn cat, and found a love of Dungeons and Dragons along the way.
Nowadays they live in a Madison apartment that is full to the brim with things that they love, not least of all their wonderfully goofy cat, their many crafts, and each other. They tell stories and make handmade things on their bright green couch, sharing a life with each other that is as full of love and life as it is of adventure. But there are still many chapters in this story to tell, and it would be a great honor to both of us if you would honor us in the most meaningful way there is: by being a part of them and joining us for our wedding at Blue Mound State Park. Where we met, where he proposed, and where they will pledge ourselves in love forever.
